Obituary of James Keith Montrose
James Keith Montrose (Jim) passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2021 in Dunnellon, Florida at the age of 77. He was born on September 29, 1943 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to Amos and Sarah (Davis) Montrose.
Jim grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Penn Joint High School in 1961. After high school he joined the Army and served for 9 years. He fought in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged in 1971 due to wounds received in the war and achieved the rank of Sergeant. After the Army, he began attending Maryland University and then graduated in 1990 from Denver University in Colorado where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business management. He was involved in several different exciting career opportunities, including the Steel Mills, Rocky Flats, Los Alamos National Labs, Pacific Scientific and finally retiring in 2011.
Jim married Mary (Buffo) in 1990 in Louisville, Colorado. They were happily married for 30 years leading a fun and crazy life of moving to many different parts of the country. He enjoyed fishing from his kayak, golf, cooking, trap shooting, traveling, and wood working, where he built furniture that is still used to this day.
Jim was preceded in death by Amos & Sarah Montrose (parents), Jacob Fitzsimmons (grandson), Joann Hayes (sister) and Russell Montrose (brother).
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Montrose, his children - Dewayne Montrose, Crissy Fitzsimmons, Jimmy Montrose, Dwight Montrose; stepsons - Kevin Buffo, Dean Buffo, Dave Buffo; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
