Obituary of William Alfred Borg
William Alfred Borg, 95, Born December 25th 1924, and passed peacefully on November 14, 2020, at Elan Buena Vista Memory Care, in Lady Lake, Florida. He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Jay) Fritz, Cindy (James) Doyle and Debby Borg. Six grandchildren: John (Shannon), Mike Fritz, Jim (Amanda) Fritz; Kerry (Jacob) Heppner, Jimmy Doyle; and Evan Mulvihill. Six great-grandchildren: Heidi, Nathan & Audrey Fritz; Genevieve & Nolan Fritz & Crosby Heppner.
William “Sonny” Borg was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Esther & William J. Borg. He married Lucy Soto on July 22, 1949. She preceded his death on 1/11/2014, after 65 years of marriage. The Borgs moved to The Villages in Lady Lake, Florida in 1992 and were members of the Chapel of Christian Faith. Bill served in the 83rd Infantry Division, during WWII from July 1943 to December 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars, & medals for battles through Europe, rising to Sargent Borg. He exemplified all the virtues and values that have made this country great. The Hospice Veterans came on Veterans Day & Honored him with 2 plaques, and a beautiful Red, White and Blue, Land of the Free quilt. They Played God Bless America, by Kate Smith. Then Pastor Keith came and delivered a beautiful sermon.
He passed 3 days later, in his sleep.
He has joined Lucy now, forever.
