Obituary of Joanne Morales

Joanne Morales, 80, of Ocala, Florida passed away at West Marion Hospital on Monday, January 25, 2021. She was born on August 13, 1940, the daughter of the late George and Cornelia Hathaway. JoAnne was a native of New Jersey before moving to the Dunnellon, FL area in 2004. She was a graduate of West Orange High School and an active member of Montclair, New Jersey’s Grace Presbyterian Church. She performed as a member of their Choir and also as an Organist.  

In Florida Joann participated in Cracker Quilter’s Guild and Creative Quilters of Citrus County, Lady Journey Seekers, and Citrus County L.I.F.T after the death of her beloved husband John Morales in 2008.  Following John’s death Joanne moved to Oak Bend Village in Dunnellon, Fl participating in many community activities and building strong supportive friendships.  She attended  The First United Church.of Dunnellon and only recently moved to The Bridge at Ocala.

JoAnne is survived by her daughter, Lori Nofer and grandsons John Monnett, Michael Monnett and Jason Tyler of Southbury, CT as well as her daughter Teri Nofer of Baltimore, MD and grandsons Andrew O’Loughlin of Tempe, AZ and Eric O’Loughlin of Manchester, CT.

Per the family’s request, no services will be held at this time, instead a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Liver Foundation. Online condolences may be sent to hiers-baxley.com
