The O’Callaghan family were my next-door neighbors in Breezy Point when I was growing up.
I do not remember Pat at that time since she was part of a different generation.
That would all change completely when my wife and I came to the Villages.
Pat reached out to us and introduced her to her large circle of friends.
Pat and Pudge welcomed us to the Villages and made sure that we were invited to many events they were attending.
I can still hear Pat saying, “Pudge, Kevin likes to play golf. Could you get him in your foursome?” Or ,”Pudge, Kevin would like to learn to play pickleball. Could you teach him?”
The Villages was a perfect place for Pat, Pudge and their close friend Joe.
There were always lots of social activities and plenty of people to meet.
Pat, Pudge and Joe were always friendly, gracious and, most of all, fun to be with. They were great company and went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.
Every year when we knew we were going to the Villages, our first call would be to Pat.
She would fill us in on the latest news from the Village and set up dinner with favorite Irish singers usually, the duet Tom and Maura
Pat and Pudge loved to dance and were always fashionably dressed.
We were very fortunate to spend a lot of time with Pat, and Pudge and enjoyed every minute of it. Pat will be missed but we appreciate all she did for us and the time we spent with her.
My fondest memory of them happened on more than one occasion.
We would often go to the Lake Sumpter Square to listen to the music and dance. Pudge would be talking to someone and come back and say, “Where is Pat?”. I would tell him she is out on the square dancing. Pudge would look out on the dance floor until he saw Pat dancing and enjoying herself. Pudge would look at her with love in his eyes and smile.
I am sure Pudge is smiling once again as he welcomes Pat home.
Sincerely,
Kevin & Fran Fallon
