Bruce and I were so saddened to hear of Joan’s passing. It was somewhat of a shock because in a phone call a few days before her death, she, as was her way, downplaying any health problems she was having. Her focus was always on the other person. I remember first meeting Joan at a party in Charlevoix. She approached me and introduced herself and was so welcoming. I remarked to Bruce afterwards that I didn’t think I had ever met a more gracious lady. She was such a good friend to so many, always keeping in touch, no matter how many miles or years separated her from them. We were lucky to have many wonderful and memorable years with Joan and Paul in both Charlevoix and The Villages. They were, indeed, a very special couple and are very much missed.
