Karen and family,
Rick left such an ever lasting impression on my heart. Such a kind and fun man who was always smiling no matter what he was going through. I feel lucky to have spent time with such an admirable man. My heart breaks for your loss but for as great as Rick was on earth he must be an incredible angel. Cheers to Happy Hour in Heaven!
All my love,

My parents and Rick's parents were very close friends. I was younger than he was but he always took time to include me in activities at the lake and made me feel welcome. Than inclusive attitude and charm continued every time we ran into him in Duluth. He was a charming, kind man and I am not surprised that he fought the cancer with such heart. He will be missed.
I am on a board for a fund set up partly with money from Steve's memorials, it gives money to teachers, coaches and other folks who work with students at Denfeld to supply needs that are not in the budget. We, my husband Fred and I will make a contribution to that fund in Rick's name.

Karen, Jody, Wendy and family, while it is never easy to lose a loved one, we can be thankful that Rick fought so valiantly that he was in our life 8 more years or so than the Dr. had first indicated.
Growing up together as we did at Grandma and Grandpa's house Rick was my boyhood hero, always so kind and willing to put up with my antics. (Cousin Steve and I used to spy on him through the bedroom window)
Since we had an extended family, dinner gatherings always consisted of the "Big People" table in the dining room, and the "Small People" table in the front room, Rick used to tease me that someday I would make it to the "Big People" table.
I know Rick is in a better place with those who passed before and loved and cherished him in this lifetime but he will be sorely missed.
Cousin Rick, I love you, save me a place at the table.
Stay strong and keep safe.
Cousin Randy

Jody so sorry for your loss. Seems no matter how long we have our parents it is never long enough. Last time I saw your Dad was at a rummage sale in Superior (imagine that)!
He was helping some friends with the sale and we chatted for a long time about this German WW2 artillery range finder they had for sale....
He always had a big smile and made time to chat me up!
