Obituary of Richard L. Garbelman
Richard L. Garbelman died peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Mariposa Hospice House in The Villages, Florida. He was 73 years young. He was born on Jan 8, 1947 in St. Charles, Illinois. Richard’s family moved to Wisconsin when he was 1 year old. Richard and his wife Pat moved to The Villages, in Lady Lake in 2019 for health reasons. They enjoyed all The Villages offered especially the entertainment and pools. He regularly went to the pool for water therapy. Although he had many health problems Richard persevered at trying to maintain independence and working on his therapy. Richard enjoyed golfing, motorcycling, and working on and driving his classic cars. He won many trophies at car shows. He was a quiet peaceful man. When he had something to say it was usually sarcastic and funny. His sense of humor made people laugh. Richard never had a bad word to say about others. He was well respected by all that knew him. Richard was 32 years sober and a grateful member of AA.
Richard is survived by his wife, Pat of 37 years, his son, Mike (Amy) Garbelman of Shawano, Wisconsin; his daughter, Kelly Garbelman (Steve) of Marquette, Michigan; his sister, Bobbette Hull of Shawano, WI; 3 sisters-in-law, Bonnie, JoEllyn, and Kathy; 3 brothers-in-law, Jim, John, and Tom (Steven); 3 grandchildren, Brad (Amelia), Jeremy (Angela), and Jessica (Tim); 5 great-grandchildren, Ivy, Vivian, Addison, Michaela, Aubrey, and Kaylee. He is further survived by his Uncle, Richard Beane in Illinois, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and the best friends ever.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Myron and Juanita Garbelman, one granddaughter, Kayla, his in-laws, Richard and Patricia Jerow; 4 brother-in-laws, Bill Olson, Doc Hull, Mike VanLieshout, and Jim Dutcher.
No services will be held.
