Obituary of Dolores Jean Abramski Ruppel

Dolores Jean Abramski Ruppel, age 88, of Gainesville, Florida passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2020. Dolores was born on August 19, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, to the late William and Jean Abramski and is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Robert A. Ruppel. 

She is survived by her sister Marilyn (Mickey) Saunders of Hawthorne, FL and daughters, Barbara (John) Stefan of Port St. Lucie, FL, Karen (Greg) D'Auria of Norwich, CT, Diane Ruppel of Danbury, CT; sons, Ronald (Maureen) Ruppel of Gainesville, William (Jennifer) Ruppel of Ocala; grandchildren, Jonathan Stefan, Katherine (Micah) Sheppard, Jessica (Quinn) Ninteau, Michelle D'Auria, Danielle (Patrick) Schaefer, Megan Ruppel, Robert  Ruppel, and Nicholas Ruppel,  two Great Grandchildren;  Jeremy and Eva Sheppard, and brother-in-law Gerard Ruppel and sister-in-law Janet Rafferty.  A beloved Ciocie, is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Dolores grew up in Queens, NY. She later moved to New Fairfield, CT with her husband where they raised their five children. She worked at Grolier Publishing as a manager in their key punch department before retiring to Port St. Lucie, Florida in 1987. Dolores enjoyed knitting and winning at bingo, slots and Texas Hold’em. Dolores and her husband traveled to Las Vegas 50 times during their retirement years. Dolores and Robert  moved to Ocala in 2006 to live with their son William . After Robert’s  death in 2016 Dolores moved to Ron’s Raider HealthCare in Gainesville for her final years.

Dolores’ truest love and happiest times were spent with her family. She was a wonderful Wife, loving Mother, best Mother-in-Law and sweetest Babci her family was blessed to have.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28th at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services in Ocala.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2020 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
