Uncle John was so special to so many people because he was a true joy to be around – he always told jokes and made you feel loved. Despite living many miles away from him my entire life, I always looked forward to visiting with and talking to him. I loved visiting him in Key West, Lakeland, and just two years ago in The Villages. He was the one uncle I was willing to visit by flying on a plane all by myself when I was a young child. I owe my childhood obsession with flamingos and blown glass to him - I still have an old flamingo blanket which despite its age, reminds me fondly of Uncle John.
In recent years, my daughters developed a deep affection for Uncle John as well. What’s remarkable is that they only hung out with him 2 or 3 times in their lives, yet they think the world of him. In 2019 we did a big trip to Disney World and tacked on 2 days to visit with Uncle John and Kathy. Those 48 hours were the highlight of that Florida trip…even better than Disney!
I miss Uncle John, his smile, his jokes, his hugs, but am so grateful I had the opportunity to share with him how much he means to me. My heart goes out to the rest of our family and all his friends who know how special he was. Rest In Peace, Uncle John.

I have great memories of John from our Nyack High School days. Although many of us lost track in the years after graduation it is very fondly I remember how wonderful it was to see him at the reunions and catch up on our mutual lives. As a fellow Vietnam Vet I deeply cherish that kinship. Rest in peace brother John, you will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to Kathy and all of John's family...God bless you all.

Dear D'Auria family,
I remember John from Nyack High School. He was always a very happy person with the biggest smile. He was the kindest and sweetest person you could ever meet. He always went that extra mile to help you. He is a Nyack person and he will always be in our hearts and minds
My wife Karen and I offer our deepest condolences and sympathy to John’s family. May eternal rest be granted to him O Lord, may perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace. May his soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed rest in peace. Amen
Respectfully Yours,
Guy and Karen Gebbia
