Dear Friends, I have received many precious cards and letters from you. All of you noted Joy's wonderful attributes. For those of you that did not know Joy when she worked at Saint Mary's Medical Center, I would like to share part of a letter from her friend Vicky:
We feel so privileged and blessed to have known your Joy. Her name describes her best...she was truly "a gift of joy" to everyone her life touched. I always feel Christ brings you "special" people as we journey in this life and Joy was one of those special people for me. Christ led us to work together not only in PACU but in OPS and PAT as well. As she went on to manage the Bariatric Center we were still able to see each other daily with her office being right down the hall...as busy as she was, she always took time to talk and lend an ear. She always gave one hundred percent of herself and then some...she was really...just selfless in how she treated others. She was the best listener and encourager, which are traits that are hard to find these days and she gave the best, "hold on tight hugs" when you needed it the most. Joy had a way of reading how people were feeling and she had the knack of keeping everybody's spirits up. She was such a hard worker and such a great and talented nurse...so dedicated to her profession. Her patients just adored her and would always pop their heads in to ask for Joy when they would come in to the hospital for any reason. I remember this one patient that Joy took care of first shift and then my shift followed caring for him...I ran into him and his wife several times when I was out and about...even years later...they would always ask about Joy! Joy left an unforgettable impression with everyone she met...she was just such a delight! She was one of the sweetest persons that I have ever known...always genuinely herself. She will be dearly missed...we will always feel her 'special joy" in our hearts.

Joy was a gem & loved by all who knew her. I worked with Joy on Orthopedics for many years at St. Mary's. She was a ray of sunshine. No matter how crazy or busy we were Joy always made it better. Her free spirit was infectious. Joy certainly made this world a better place.

Joy was a ray of sunshine. I was fortunate to meet her 7 years ago when she volunteered for the Health Care Ministry at church. She was very compassionate and took her time to speak with members of the congregation. She always had a smile and very helpful to members of the congregation.
My prayers are with the family as they go through this difficult time. Debbie Marsich

We met Joy years ago when we moved across the street from her, Jim and Chris in West Virginia. They welcomed us to the neighborhood with open arms. I’ll never forget Joy’s beautiful spirit and smile. She was so kind and caring to our small children, and they adored her. She will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace, my friend. Sandra

I worked with Joy in the readmission dept at hospital. She was such a "Joy" to work with and an excellent nurse. After I retired I got together with Joy, Cathie Ebert and Roseanne Smith and we would all catch up and have a great visit. I was so happy for her when she retired. So sorry for your loss, Janice Murphy

I had the pleasure of working with Joy at TVRH. There was not a patient who didn't adore her; her compassion and kindness were limitless. Often Joy would speak lovingly of her husband Jim, son Christopher, the family cat, and her beautiful nieces. Clearly she adored her family......and she always had a blast on her annual trip with her girlfriends! If I was ever given a gift, it was being able to have Joy in my life, she truly was a friend and co-worker. RIP dear girl, you will never be far away.

We have been most fortunate to have been friends of Joy. Joy’s parents named their baby girl well. Joy has brought joy to all who know her. Her smile was as infectious as her Kentucky drawl! Joy saw pleasure in so much; things large and small, things many of us take for granted. Her career in Nursing reflects her life of caring and giving.
We will miss her dearly but find comfort in the knowledge of her strong faith in her Lotd and Savior as she joins with him and her loved ones who have passed before. Love and prayers for eternity.
