Obituary for Richard Ronald Rivera Sr.

Richard Ronald Rivera Sr.,74, of Lady Lake, Florida passed away July 19, 2020 at his Lady Lake, Florida home. 

Richard was born in Manhattan, New York, a son of the late Augusto and Lucy Rivera. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.  Prior to his retirement he was a forklift mechanic.

Richard is survived by sons, David Wayne Rivera of Lady Lake, FL and Richard Ronald Rivera Jr. of Ocala, FL and daughter, Mary Elizabeth Mendez of Davie, FL, and daughters-in-law, Christina Ann Cook and Alystra Marie Lockard both of Lady Lake, FL. He was the grandfather of Heather Ann Rivera, Daniel W. Rivera, Lauren Ashley Mendez and Caleb Alan Ross. He also leaves behind his faithful K9 companion, Gears.

In 1970 Richard R Rivera Sr. dove into the Opa-Locka canal to save two people who were traped in a car under the water.

He always put other people above himself. He got the good citizen award for saving them.

Upon his death he wanted everyone to know. He was a remote control airplane advocate. He didn’t die of COVID-19 and he would have voted for TRUMP 2020…
