Obituary of Marie Cevallos

Marie “Maruja” Cevallos, age 78, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020. Maruja was born on July 30, 1941 to Bolivar Carrera and Lydia Rubio de Carrera in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In 1960, she married Peter Cevallos, with whom she had two children. She came to the United States in 1962 to “have an adventure,” working in the finance and office administration industry.

Maruja had an unrelenting zest for life and leaves a legacy of willfulness, passion, and friendship across the world. She lived her life with a sense of immediacy; she spoke quickly and expected you to keep up. Spontaneous and undeterrable, her indelible passion took her across Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and North Africa. She cherished dancing, friendship, and her family. She will be remembered for her unapologetic pursuit of life.

Maruja is survived by her husband of 60 years, Peter Cevallos Sr.; her children, Monica Cevallos-Fulcher (Michael Moravcik) and Peter Cevallos Jr. (Laura Sweeney Cevallos); brother, Robert Carrera; her grandchildren, Madison Moravcik Cevallos Esq. and Stephen Cevallos; and her beloved nieces and nephews.
