Al and my Late Husband Fred Gool were great friends and shared the same birth day of July 30 but just not the same year. After Fred died I did some house cleaning for Al and we had many great time eating lunch together. Since Fred died I have remarried and did not know that Al had passed away, but I did have the pleasure of him coming to my wedding to my husband John Glendenning in 2014. He was such a joy to me and I will never forget him nor his love for his savior Jesus Christ. I love you Al forever!!

I never had the pleasure of meeting Al, but felt that I knew him from the comments and pictures of he and his family. I'm sure Mr. Nye was a wonderful person, and he will be missed by one and all. Rest in peace, Mr. Nye.

Al was a part of many good memories growing up as a teenager with Bengie and Buddy. Always gregarious and good hearted, he often challenged us to grow and reach our full potential. Ben and I had been lifting weights in their back yard and were getting buff.
One Friday evening Al was taking us to Ozello for a fishing trip. We were hungry so Al stopped in some little honky tonk to get us a sandwich. He was feeling feisty and walked over to a pool table where some “locals” were enjoying their beer and the pool table in an attempt to stir them up to test and try these two 17 year olds that thought they were growing into manhood. I don’t remember the sandwich but I do recall Ben and me making a quick trip toward the exit. We made it out and away without getting our ears boxed.
Al was Also a little bit of a philosopher and had hung a sign on the wall of his work shop that I did not under stand right away. It said “once a king always a king, but once a knight is enough. When I asked what that means, he said you will learn soon enough. I think I was in my late forties before I came to understand.
As I think through all the fond memories of Al, my greatest joy was hearing of his personal encounter with God. He became a fisher of men. He and I both Later in life came to know, love and trust the promises of Jesus and to enjoy the assurance of salvation, the peace, contentment and hope that comes with a growing relationship with the King of Kings. Here’s to you Al, I will see you soon. Get the boat ready, Brother!

I have good memories of Uncle Alfred and Aunt Ruth when we would come to Florida to see Mom's family when I was young. We also enjoyed their visits when they would come to TN to visit Mom & Dad. My family really enjoyed our time with him when we got together two years ago. Charlie & Ruthie McEntyre

Never met him, didn’t know him. Heard a lot about him these past years through association with Kin and friends who did. Despite my several degrees of separation, I am saddened for both those who knew him and the many more who didn’t. I am sure we are all the lesser for his passing.
