Obituary of Barbara Cranmer Gladstone
Barbara Cranmer Gladstone, 1941 – 2020
Barbara was born in Cedar Run, New Jersey to Rose and Cecil Cranmer. She graduated as salutatorian from Southern Regional High School in 1959, graduated with honors from Ursinus College in 1963 with a BA in Education and History, and later completed a Master’s Degree in Reading Education. In 1964, she married her college sweetheart, Bob Gladstone.
Barbara taught reading and history in various public and private schools in NJ while raising two children (Fred and Elizabeth) and supporting her loving husband Bob.
Barb and Bob lived for most of their adult years in Mercer County and Somerset County New Jersey, then moved to The Villages, FL in 2008, in pursuit of warmer weather and an active lifestyle. She was proud that they remained married for 56 years.
Barbara volunteered for numerous historical preservation sites and commemoration activities in New Jersey, including the Old Barracks Museum in Trenton, NJ and the US Constitution Bi-Centennial celebration in Lawrenceville, NJ.
She loved animals and relaxing by the pool with a book.
She is survived by her husband Bob Gladstone, children Frederick (wife Peggy) Gladstone and Elizabeth Roland, sister Harriet (husband Jack), and grandchildren Victoria, Elizabeth, William and Miles.
