Obituary of Donna Jeanne Billion

Donna Jeanne (Riley) Billion, 85 born in Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully in the care and company of her loving family on April 26, 2020 in Ocala, FL. 

Donna was the daughter of the late Harold J. Riley Sr. and Esther (Denmark). Predeceased by her devoted husband John of 61 years, sister Dolores Shea and brother Ronald Riley. Born and raised in Syracuse, Donna graduated from North High School and would go on to spend her early years working at Crouse-Hinds Company. She would then serve as a teacher’s aide at Chestnut Hill Elementary in Liverpool, NY. Before her retirement, Donna embarked on the role of a secretary for WCNY Channel 24. 

 

Donna held a significant appreciation for literature and she would engross herself with her love of reading. She also loved spending her time in the presence of her family, friends and neighbors alike - as she was well recognized and loved wherever she resided. Donna exemplified what it meant to be the caring matriarch of a family and would be known by those around her as someone who’s aura radiated unconditional friendliness and benevolence.

 

She is survived by daughter Lisa and son-in-law Michael Vassallo of Ocala; her brother John (Diane) Riley of Houston, TX; sister Judy (Sonny) McGinley of Syracuse; sister -in-laws Ann Billion of Syracuse, Sue Riley of Baldwinsville, NY and Nancy (Jim) Boyd of The Villages, FL; beloved grandchildren Sarah Beth and Michael Jr. “MJ” of Ocala; great grandchildren Nicholas Michael and Madison Grace and cherished by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Donna’s family would like to thank Visiting Angels, especially Angel Darlene, for the excellent care they provided and Kindred Hospice for all the care and support during Donna’s final days.
