I just heard today of Jerry's passing. He was such an honorable man, always a wave and smile anytime I passed him in deerpath, When I purchased my Murphy home things in my life were upside down, The day before moving in appraisal did not go through with bank. Jerry let me go ahead and move in as planned. I will never forget his generosity. He will be a man missed by many and always remembered for his kindness

Jerry was a great guy. Walked in his office one day when he was building Deer Path. Told him we loved his model home which was his office. We weren’t sure we could afford it but he said let’s see what I can do. Shortly after that first meeting we were moving in our beautiful Murphy home. He was a very generous man. I saw him in passing daily for many years and always had a smile on his face. God Bless you Jerry and your family. Thank you for all you did to help us achieve our goal of owning a beautiful Murphy home. John Vowinkel

Mr. Murphy was the nicest man I met when we visited from New York about 15 years ago and considered building a home for our retirement. He and his then secretary, Pat, were always courteous, kind and patient. He was a generous and friendly man and will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Mr. Murphy.

We were assigned by the Concierge Care to work for Mr. Murphy in April of 2020. Our tenure with him was incredibly short but it left a lasting impact on us.
Our first day of work began with prayer by Mr. Murphy’s pastor and that set the tone for our time together. He was very calm, at peace and he listened to his favorite hymns playing in the background. He embraced his home going with confidence and joy. He knew where he was going.
Even though he was dealing with so much, he never failed to express his gratitude for our care. He ALWAYS had a smile for us.
Mr Murphy was an upright man, had a humble nature, integrity that speaks volumes, and it was our pleasure to care for him. He was obviously a great man, the love and RESPECT his family and friends felt for him was palpable in his home. You will be missed Mr. Murphy.
We pray that God grants his grieving family peace in knowing that they will see him again.
May his great legacy lives on and his name remain a memorial in the City if Ocala.

Jerry was and always will be special to me. He gave me his business when he knew how much I needed it and we became friends as well as having a contractor,/ sub contractor relationship. He was always easy to talk to and advise me when I asked for it. Have not seen as much of him since retiring but knew he was there if I needed to talk to him. He was a great guy, gonna miss him. My condolence to Kathy, Mike and Mrs M.

My family is filled with sweet memories spending time with Uncle Jerry in Ocala, and splashing around in the water at Silver Springs and Crystal River. Whether tubing, fishing, crabbing or eating- we enjoyed each others company. He kept us smiling as we shared in laughs and appreciated the little things in life. Jerry was kind, thoughtful and generous- sharing what he had with us. The Floyd/Mapstone families send love and these special memories during this difficult time. Uncle Jerry will be missed and we honor him today.

Last Friday we woke up to some terrible news. Our friend Jerry R Murphy had passed away. Jerry and his family became regular patrons and friends to all of us. Jerry was very proud of his family, their accomplishments and of course, building homes and neighborhoods in Marion County.
As the years went on, we've all gotten to know this man, how he was such a kind and caring person with a big heart and when you add his humorous nature, our conversations always included joy and laughter. There will be an empty seat around the table at lunchtime in our restaurant. We are blessed to have known Jerry and will miss him very much.
Your Scrambles family and friends.

My wife and I first met Mr. Jerry in 2007 when we contracted with Murphy-Kaufman to build us a home in Deer Path Estates. I always enjoyed talking to Jerry when my wife and I were walking in the neighborhood. Having been on the Deer Path Estates HOA board I would stop by and talk to Jerry. He always took the time to meet with me. Jerry was a very kind person and my wife and I had the utmost respect for him. Jerry would always wave when we saw him in his travels. I know his family and friends will miss him beyond measure. I know from my wife and I we will miss seeing his smile and wave as we walked through the neighborhood. I had the utmost respect for Jerry. He was a very fine man and will be missed by all. Rest in Peace Mr. Jerry.
Respectfully,
Marvin (Sonny) & Pat Puckett

I thank God that Jerry was a part of my life for 18 years! I will never forget what he told me many years ago. "Laurie, you have good work ethics." That was really something coming from him. He will be always in my heart as well as his family. Just said goodbye to him in his office. No I wasn't late on my rent!

Our sincere condolences to Ms. Sue, Kathy and Mike and all of Jerry's family. We will miss him waving and seeing his yellow cap on the dash of his truck. Jerry was an honorable man through and through, and so helpful and amazing when he built our house. Am so glad we got to see him in Scrambles weeks ago. I'm sure Jerry will be a forever legacy and we count ourselves so blessed to be living in one of his masterpieces. When Jerry gets settled in Glory, he surely will be building mansions. What a blessing it has been to know him! The world has lost an exceptional human being. May God's grace abound in the times ahead......praying for you all,

I never met Jerry, but always heard so many glowing comments about him from my parents, Cliff and Freida Marriott. Of course, that was not limited to Jerry, but the whole Murphy family. I have had the privilege of meeting Sue. I am Cliff and Freida's youngest daughter. My thoughts are with you and I am glad Jerry is at peace. To say he will be missed is certainly an understatement. He left his mark on Ocala in so many wonderful, positive ways. The lack of his presence will be felt dearly by family and friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
