Obituary of Judith Ann “Judy” Devaney
Judith Ann “Judy” Devaney, 78 of Summerfield, FL passed away on Tuesday, March 10th at the Brandley Hospice House. Judy was born in Yonkers, NY and was a retired Registered Nurse and a Business Analyst. She moved to this area in 2006 from Rochester, NY. Judy is a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Summerfield. Judy had a life-long love of theater. She and her husband built sets and worked stage crew for almost 20 years at Blackfriar’s Theatre in Rochester, NY. When they moved to Florida they volunteered at Ocala Civic Theatre. She also loved sewing, quilting, and machine embroidery. She was president of the Spruce Creek Computer Club for 5 years. She started and ran the multimedia ministry at St. Mark’s Church, as well as the volunteer program. Judy was also a Eucharistic Minister and Lector for 40 years.
Judy is preceded in death by her son Brian Devaney. She is survived by her husband Mark Devaney, daughter Susan Geyer and husband Lawrence, daughter Linda Statt and husband Jeffrey, daughter-in-law Diane Devaney, brother Philip Boschetti and wife Linda, and 5 grandchildren: Aaron Statt, Jason Statt, Ryan Statt, Anthony Devaney, and Elizabeth Geyer.
The family will have calling hours at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in Belleview on Wednesday, March 18th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm. All are welcome to visit and share with the family. Judy’s celebration of life Mass will be on Thursday, March 19th at 10:00am at St. Mark’s with refreshments immediately following. Interment will be at 2:00 pm at Highland Memorial Park, Ocala. Contributions may be made to Ocala Civic Theater.
