Obituary of Karen Kay Van Hooser (Koth)
Karen Kay Van Hooser (Koth) was born August 5, 1940 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Lorenz and Hilda Koth of Aurelia, Iowa. She passed away on March 5, 2020 at Estelle’s Hospice House Care after a lengthy battle with stomach cancer.
Karen was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress, beautician, bookkeeper and florist. She was a great cook, baker and a gifted seamstress. She taught Sunday school and loved to sing in the church choir. She had a big heart and a loving, kind spirit. Her presence will be greatly missed by everyone.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Jerold Van Hooser, a son Scott Van Hooser, daughter Renae Van Hooser, granddaughter Mercedes Phelps, extended family Doug and Jane Rolfes, Ben, Kyla and Judd Rolfes, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and many many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenz and Hilda (Peckenschneider) Koth and others including her brother, father and mother in-law, sister, brother in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 beginning at 2:00pm at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 5200 Southwest College Road, Ocala, FL 34474. Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date.
