Obituary of Dominic DePonio III
Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life; rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise, God, whose very own you are, will lead you safely through all things; and when you cannot stand it, God will carry you in His arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow; the same understanding Father who cares for you today will take care of you then and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering or will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
—St. Francis de Sales
More Than Words — Amazing Grace
Dominic, born and raised in Detroit, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Family was important to him. He worked very hard each and every day to provide a comfortable home and life for his family.
Survived by his devoted wife Ruthann, and children April Anne Hill (husband Ron), Scott Thomas Kasinec (wife Kim) and David Joseph Deponio. Grandchilren Kyle, Cameron, Riley, and Milania. Brother to Frances, Donna, Diane(DeeDee), Patrick, Michael, David and Kathy. Dominic is preceded in death by his parents Dominic Thomas DePonio II, and Mildred Sweeney DePonio and sister Joanne.
Art was his passion. He loved lots of colors and colorful things. With an artist’s touch he was able to blend them together beautifully. In his spare time he created many beautiful paintings that he often gave away to friends and family. He loved music, loved being near the water and loved to swim. But more than that, loved God and family and never hesitated to help those in need.
In our 48 years together never once did he refuse to help or give to someone he saw in need. He gave generously both materially and emotionally the best he knew how. He did what he could but said little.
He had an amazing sense of humor. He could make a pun out of just about anything, he was very “punny”. He also loved to play the lottery. Every day he would purchase one ticket and when he won, he gave his winnings away.
For the last several years of his life, Dominic suffered from several debilitating illnesses and all during that time he never complained. He did what he could do and prayed the rosary every night. While he was in the hospital his love for music was honored. A friend of the family came and sang for him which brought him much comfort.
Although he will be deeply missed and we grieve our loss, there is peace within us. He leaves a warm place in our hearts. And this we know: God is on his side. He praised the word of the Lord. In God he trusted, we do not fear. God will lead him home.
