I knew you as Uncle Timmy. I remember how you always made sure to look out for your family when you would go grocery shopping and find good deals.. you’d show up with a whole car full of groceries and you would always be sure to give whatever you could to your family and friends or people less fortunate. You always had wise words and you never let an opportunity to make others laugh pass. One of my fondest memories of you was when I was about 7 months pregnant with my daughter, you were telling your brother Johnny Mas (my ex-father in law) how you couldn’t lie to one of your nieces about her newborn baby being cute cause it was ugly as sin so you told her it was! And you went on to say how all newborn babies are ugly and as a matter of fact your own child was an ugly little thing as a newborn. You swore that you had never seen a cute newborn. That’s when I said “well you’ll finally see one when my baby’s born!” But you assured me she would be “Ugly as sin!” And Johnny agreed. However, after Tracy May was born Johnny would tell you his granddaughter was not ugly at all but the most beautiful newborn he’d ever seen. Of course you didn’t believe him. Then one day I was walking up the driveway from Billy Jack’s pushing Tracy in her carseat & stroller and ran into you and Johnny in the front yard. You hadn’t seen her yet and I had a receiving blanket over her car seat to protect her from the elements. But I stopped and said are you ready to be proven wrong? “I’m never wrong! She’ll be ugly I’m sure! Now show me that baby do we can settle this once and for all!!” So I grab the blanket pulling it away … “Well I’ll be damned I surely was wrong cause she really is the prettiest newborn I have ever seen in my entire life! She’s truly beautiful, I stand corrected!!” And from that day forward uncle Timmy would refer to Tracy May as “The pretty baby” Thank you for all the laughs and words of wisdom uncle Timmy!
