Obituary of Susan Mary Dow

Susan Mary Dow, 60, of Ocala passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at her home in Ocala. She was born September 24, 1959 the daughter of Edith Mary Dow and the late Warren Patrick Dow. Susan was a native of Freeport, New York and moved to this area from Hampton Bays, New York in 1972.

After high school, Susan attended Court Reporting School in Jacksonville Beach, FL. During her 40 years as a court reporter, Susan earned the Registered Diplomate Reporter Award, the Registered Merit Reporter Award, and numerous other professional accomplishment badges both state and national.

Susan had a huge heart for giving. Her biggest joys came from spoiling her niece, nephew, and great nephews as well as her friends. Anyone who knew her can say she truly had a caring heart inside of her strong exterior.

Survivors include her mother, Edith Dow; sisters, Debbie (Paul) Lessard and Patti Vail; niece, Kelly Vail; nephew, Chris (Katy) Vail; great-nephews, Tripp, Christian, and Trace Vail; and her best friend, Michael Hamed.

Predeceased by her father, Warren Dow.

A gathering of family members and friends will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services (910 E Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470).
