Obituary of David Frederick Willoughby

David Frederick Willoughby, 73, passed away January 12, 2020 at Palm Garden of Ocala in Ocala, FL.  He is now in heaven with his Lord and Savior.   David was born June 27, 1946 to Sam David and June Elaine Willoughby, in Newport News, VA.  He grew up and attended school in Calvert County, MD before moving, with his family, to Marion County in 1970. 

David was part owner and operator of Willoughby’s Produce in Ocala, FL for over 40 years.  He always referred to himself as a “Produceologist”. He was a true cowboy at heart and was nicknamed  “Cowboy Dave”.  He loved being with his family, watching the western channel and reading about the “Old West”. David was a member of the Belleview United Methodist Church and served in the Chancel Choir, as a children’s Sunday school teacher and supported many ministries through the church.  He was proud of his Lord and would tell anyone about Jesus.

David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susie Taylor Willoughby, Belleview; 2 children, Samuel W. Willoughby (Jennifer), TN and Samantha C. Ewart (Leckford), Belleview, FL: 2 brothers Daniel, (Elaine) and Donald (Gabriela): 2 grandchildren, Brayden, and Mabry; niece, Jennifer and 4 nephews Jason, Greg, Brian and Christopher.

David touched many lives with his smile, laughter and his love for Jesus.  His family and friends will miss him dearly. 

Memorial service for David will be Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 10:00 at Belleview United Methodist Church, located across from Belleview Elementary in Belleview, FL.  Luncheon and committal will follow the service.
