Obituary of Aruna Sheth

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Aruna Sheth, 89, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. 

Aruna Ba passed away peacefully at her home in Ocala, FL, surrounded by family. 

Born on September 10, 1930 in Jetpur, India, Aruna was one of eight children. She met and married her husband, Suresh C. Sheth in 1945, with whom she celebrated a 74th wedding anniversary on December 6, 2019.
Aruna played a major role in raising and shaping the lives of her three sons Atul, Haresh, and Akshaya— all of whom became successful leaders in the fields of medicine and finance. She is survived by her husband and best friend Suresh, her three sons, daughter-in-law Meena, daughter-in-law Kusum, six grandchildren Ami, Rahul, Urmi, Purvi, Akhil, and Preeti, and her great-grandson Deyvan.  

Our Ba loved cooking and never missed an opportunity to make our favorite dishes, especially on birthdays and holidays. Even into her older age, when her hands and legs couldn’t function the same way, she would sit in the kitchen with a smile, guide us through prep, and use every bit of energy she had to make her classic Gujarati dishes, just to see a smile on our faces.

Ba helped to raise her grandkids with love and laughter, standing in as their babysitters when younger, and challenging them to intense battles of open rummy and Monopoly as they got older— cheating her way through both despite her age advantage and laughing heartily each time she got caught.

We will always remember Ba as a kind and thoughtful soul, a wife who stood beside her husband from day one, and the highly respected matriarch of our family.
