Obituary of Mary Ellen Amsler
Mary Ellen Amsler was born on Tuesday, September 2, 1930 to Frank and Mary Helen Blankert in South Bend, Indiana. She grew up on Ewing Ave and attended Oliver school. On January 24, 1948 she married Frank A Amsler, they enjoyed 68 years together before Frank passed on March 26, 2016. Together Frank and Mary enjoyed many adventures, their greatest adventure however was raising their three children, Bill, Bob and Mary Ann at the Lake of the Woods in Bremen, Indiana. Mary Ellen was the kind of neighbor and co worker everyone was thankful to have. She always had a way of making things better. Many people sat around her table and worked out their lives over a beer. She had a way of listening without comment. She had a way of reminding you of who you are, encouraging you to manage your business and move forward. She created a culture amongst her people of courage and integrity. She was brave and strong, loving and determined. Her greatest joy was her family. Her children William, Robert, Mary Ann and her husband John. Her grand babies, Michael and his wife Pam. Mary Ruth and husband Greg, their children Hanna, Katie, Brett (Erin), Alan (Tori) and her great great grandbaby Lakyn. There was never going to be a day when any of us would be done needing her fun and laughter, her support and the way she always made each of us feel so special. She battled courageously through cancer treatments because that’s just how she was, never giving up.
On Thursday December 5th, Mary Ellen Amsler passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Her loss will be felt by all, but the wonderful memories of the time and love, laughter and the life lessons she has left us with will go on always.
