To Ruby & Dan's Entire Family,
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of Dan. I was unable to attend the memorial on November 23rd but wanted to share the following with you.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dan a few years ago and play softball with him for a few seasons. Besides being a terrific athlete, Dan was one of the best men I've ever known. He was always willing to help and was always upbeat despite his medical struggles. I wish I had met him a few years sooner but will always treasure the time that I knew him.
I'll remember Dan and all of you in my prayers.

Dan, As a member of your last championship team this past summer, you were always in my mind when we were making our run to the championship. The friendship you shared with me along with your constant support has made me a better person. The last nine years I have watched you, admired you and learned from you. I will miss your physical presence but your spirit will always remain with me. Thank you.

One of the best memories I have of Dan is an April 2012 edition of The Villages Magazine. There was an article about Dan, but the accompanying picture was of me! Dan’s comment was how happy he was that they showed a picture of someone with good hair! We laughed about that many times over the years. Dan and I also enjoyed talking about our experiences with high school wrestling.
I’ll miss seeing Dan at the softball fields. My thoughts and prayers are with Ruby and family.

Danny and I have spent over 60+ years as friends. Our families spent so much time together we became one.
Throughout our life we’ve had friends that would come and go, but Danny was always there. It’s hard to find many who maintain a friendship from their school days until their old age. I’m so grateful for the years I have shared with him. I must say, I’m blessed, with the most precious gift called friendship.
I can still recall as if it were yesterday playing basketball in the school gym. I remember vividly the times I watched Danny’s wrestling matches. And those cold winter days of going hunting. I’ll always carry & cherish those memories with me.
Danny has always been a wonderful person, he was always the first to say a kind word of thanks, or say a word of wisdom to those in need. He has never met a stranger.
He’ll be missed by all of us who loved him, and appreciated his commitment
and dedication to giving time, devotion, and a sincere appreciation for people regardless of how long he knew them. He was a genuine person that gave not because he had to, but because he wanted to. Thank you Danny, for being such a good person, with an abundance of love and kindness.
Danny,
I understand that this is a journey that only you can travel, but I want you to know and always remember, nothing can separate our 60+ years of long friendship. I will be thinking of you constantly and I’m confident to know someday we'll meet again.
Please know that you are much loved.
Harry & Edith

Dan, with that sweet smile for all the ladies and big grim for the guys, always the listener and then a sharer of wonderful stories. The man who was so positive in his outlook on life, so courageous and strong throughout his battle with Myeloma. A loving husband, constant friend, kind and caring man who we were honored to have as our friend. You will be missed but always in our hearts. Pat & Fred Smith

My favorite memory of time with Dan and Ruby was the time we went to the Christmas in Washington show in DC, complete with a “high tea” at the Four Seasons Hotel. Special memory of my son, Stephen and his love of the “spiked” egg nog. Dan, you will be missed. May you forever enjoy all the beauty of your heavenly home. See you there someday my friend...
