Obituary of Miriam Oramas Ballenger
Miriam (Oramas) Ballenger of Fruitland Park, Florida- Beloved wife of Robert John Ballenger, age 76, passed away on November 9, 2019. Miriam and Robert were married 56 years. Miriam, the second eldest child, was born on June 27, 1943 in Havana, Cuba and as a young child, immigrated with her family to the United States. Residing most of her life in New Jersey (Bloomfield, Vernon, Tabernacle), retiring as a “snowbird” in Florida.
Along with spending time with family, Miriam loved to dance…always ready to hit the dancefloor. She also loved to bowl, make crafts and was an avid quilter and sewer; making clothing, blankets and many other items for family and friends.
The daughter of the late Oliverio and Juana (Casielles) Oramas, Miriam was also predeceased by her sister, Myra (Oramas) Ondishin, daughter, Michelle Ballenger, Son-in-law, George. She is survived by her three children: Anna-Marie Duerr, of Highland Lakes, NJ, Elaine Jackson and husband, Kelly, of Apopka, FL, Sharon Feeley and husband, James, of Marlton, NJ; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Joanne and husband Richard and brothers, Oliverio and Ronald Oramas, all of Brick, NJ, three sister-in-laws; Nancy and Joseph Guarneri, Marylou and Bill Bedford and Norma-Jean and husband Ray Russomano of The Villages, as well as many nieces and nephews.
It is with great sadness that you have been called home so soon, and we will miss you all the days of our lives, keeping you in our hearts always!
A funeral mass will be given at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5323 E Co Rd 462, Wildwood, FL.
In lieu of flowers, at Miriam’s suggestion, a donation to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 (1-800-822-6344) would be most appreciated.
