Obituary of E. Stanley Szejnar
E. Stanley Szejnar, 95, of Hanover Massachusetts, passed away Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 at his daughter Candace’s home in Ocala, Florida surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Candace Finnie of Ocala, Florida his Granddaughters Ericka (Krul) Arrington and Nina Arrington of Hanover, Massachusetts and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Virginia F. (Hayes) Szejnar.
Stanley, originally from Buffalo, N.Y, was stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station in South Weymouth, Massachusetts before he was transferred to the U.S.S. Ticonderoga Aircraft Carrier in 1942. He traveled to the Pacific and when the U.S.S. Ticonderoga was hit in 1943 he returned to Norfolk, Virginia and was reassigned to the Destroyer U.S.S. Dyers. This ship was en route to the Pacific in 1945 when WW II ended. Stanley married Virginia Frances Hayes in 1945 and they made Hanover, Massachusetts their home. He was a retired member of the Local # 537 Pipefitters Union and Past Commander of the Post #149 American Legion and former V.F.W Post # 9026 in Hanover, Massachusetts.
Stanley gave up his golf game to take his daughter, Candace and granddaughter, Ericka, to the local horse shows for many years. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed participating in the many veteran functions in the South Shore area. For the last three years since his wife, Virginia, passed away, he has been living in Ocala, Florida with his daughter, Candace. He will be truly missed by all his friends and family.
There will be a Memorial Service and reception for Stanley at the American Legion Post # 149 at: 104 King Street, Hanover, Massachusetts, 02339 on Saturday, October 19h,2019 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
