Obituary of Roy Lee Gooch

Roy Lee Gooch, 86, of The Villages, Florida passed away June 4, 2019 at The Villages Hospice House, The Villages, FL. He was the husband of Mary Gooch for 64 years.

Roy was born in Asheboro, North Carolina, the only son of the late Roy and Betty Gooch. He was a Veteran of the US Navy retiring after 32 years of service at the rank of Captain. He was a Korean War Veteran. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, The Villages, FL.

Roy is survived by his wife, Mary L. Gooch, and daughter, Amy Gooch of Fort Mill, SC. He is also survived by sisters Ann Gallimore of Trinity, NC, Marie Frazier of Virginia Beach, VA, Margaret Moore of Spokane, WA, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by sisters Jeannie Gooch, Sue Shores, Mary Brady and Louise Kimes.

The family requests donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice, The Villages, FL, or the Southern College of Optometry in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Committal service will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 1:30pm.
