Please accept my heartfelt condolences to your family. 1 Corinthians 15:25, 26 says "For he [Jesus] must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing". At Revelation 21:4 it says regarding Jehovah, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Finally, take courage in the hope of the resurrection promised at Acts 24:15 "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."

I am so saddened to hear of Uncle Gene! I am so glad I got to meet him and Aunt Marty, had the privilege of staying with them on multiple occasions, we always had a fantastic time at Christmas wearing our silly hats and laughing, trying to get that perfect picture! He loved showing his garden to us! Glad that he got to meet and hold lil Brooke! I will cherish that photo forever and will tell her about Uncle Gene when she gets older! Love and miss you Uncle Gene! May you Rest In Peace!

I was sadden to read that my friend and former basketball teammate had passed away. I enjoyed the time we played basketball together at Holston Recreation Center. I wondered on many occasions where he was a what he was doing.
I was glad to read that he had a great life and was still playing senior basketball, which I am also doing. He had a great sense of humor and I still talk about our team going up to play basketball against the inmates at Brush Mountain prison. Gene told me once he only went to get frisked by the guards.
I have a picture of Gene on our basketball team that I would love to send to you if you would like to see it.
He will be missed...
Sincerely, Jerry L. Tipton,

Death has no mercy, especially when is a love one that has loss the battle. Death can take them away from us but they will never take away those amazing moments that we pass with them. For Mr. Gene just spending time with his family, golfing and taking care of a beautiful garden, was always priceless for him. We are very sad about his passing but we will never forget about him. We must keep faith that we will see him one day again but this time, looking really young, full of energy and most important with a smile on his face.

Gene Smelser will be missed. I enjoyed knowing him and considered him a good friend and golfing buddy. Appreciation of unique eccentricities required some focus, but once that was accomplished you had a good friend for life. What could be better than that?
Lots of love to Marty and his extended family.
Respectfully,
Tim Gold
