Obituary of Melvin Richard Rigdon, Jr.

Melvin Richard "Buddy" Rigdon, Jr. 69, of Belleview, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019. He was born on December 11, 1949 to Melvin and Elizabeth Rigdon, Sr. in Ocala, Florida. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was the ASI Warehouse Manager for 25 years before retiring. Those who knew Buddy will remember him as one who would give you the shirt off of his back, a very kind-hearted and generous man. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, saltwater fishing, and collecting arrowheads. He also loved the Florida Gators.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Rebecca D. Bloomfield-Rigdon, Belleview, FL, sons, Richard P. (Danielle) Rigdon, Belleview, FL, Cameron W. Bloomfield-Rigdon, Belleview, FL, Daughters, Kayla N. Rigdon, Belleview, FL, Ella I. Bloomfield-Rigdon, Belleview, FL, step-son, Nicholas A. Bloomfield, Belleview, FL, step-daughter, Emily N. Bloomfield Rader, Belleview, FL, grandchildren, R.J. Rigdon, Destiny Rigdon, Aleah Rigdon, all of Belleview, FL, brother, Fredrick H. (Carol) Rigdon, Belleview, FL, sisters, Shirley (Scott) Sanders, Lantana, FL, Sharon P. Rigdon, Arlington, TX, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Umatilla Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.
