Obituary of Marilyn Esther Carruthers

Marilyn Esther Carruthers, age 90, of The Villages, FL passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019. She was born in Cleveland, OH on March 31, 1929. Marilyn was a member of St Mark the Evangelist Church. She moved to The Villages from Adelphi, MD in 2003. Marilyn enjoyed reading, card games and jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid DeMatha Catholic High School basketball fan. She was considered everybody’s mother. She loved everybody she met and was loved by everybody that met her.

She is survived by her husband John “Jack” Carruthers; children Colleen Olexa (Mike), Mary Ellen Brown (Randy), Michael Carruthers (Helen Marie), John Carruthers (Theresa), Tom Carruthers (Cathy), Meg Dodge (Steve); grandchildren Shawn (Karyssa), Thomas, Christopher (Emma), Hope, Mitch, Kyle, Jack, Kevin and Caiti; great grandchildren Lacey, Ethan and Quincy; many nieces, nephews and their families; and sister in law Betty Young.

Mass will be celebrated at St Mark The Evangelist Church, 7081 SE Highway 42, Summerfield, FL 34491 on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 10am. She will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County or DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, MD.
