Obituary of Charlotte Kathryn Scanlan
Charlotte (Char) Scanlan, 86, from the Village of La Belle North, passed away on Thursday, March 28th with her loving husband Patrick and children at her side. Char bravely battled lung cancer for 5 years with strength and grace.
She was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 8, 1932. She grew up within a few blocks of her entire extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Char graduated from the Academy of Holy Angels and The College of St. Catherine. Pat first spotted Char in college at a barbecue and knew she was the girl for him. They went on to marry, have 7 children and a full life together traveling and volunteering around the world.
Char is survived by Pat, her loving husband of almost 65 years, children Mark (Maureen), Lynne (Bill), Brian (Lisa), Julie, Mary, Therese (Tom), Molly (Mike); 22 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Char is preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Arthur Krueger and her brother Russ Krueger. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Janet.
It is an understatement to say she was an inspiration to her family and friends living life to its fullest. She even had a lipstick-red Mini Cooper convertible to prove it. She was interested and active in travel, art, music, golf, crafts, zip lines, jet skiing, snow skiing, scuba diving, round dancing, singing, ukulele playing, RV roundups, camping - the list goes on. Her husband Pat teased that she was always afraid of missing out on something. A life well lived.
A Funeral will be held on April 15 at 1:00 PM at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Wildwood. In Lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials made to the charity of your choice.
