Obituary of Frances Wilma Hovis Scott
On Tuesday, March 19, 2019 Frances Wilma Hovis Scott, loving sister, mother of 2, grandmother of 11, great-grandmother of 24, and great-great-grandmother of 2, passed away at the age of 88 during her stay at The Ted and Diane Brandley House in Summerfield, FL surrounded by her family.
Frances was born on April 10, 1930 in Hempfield, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Paul and Eva Hovis. She graduated from Greenville High School in May of 1947. Frances and Donald, her ex-husband of 22 years, had two children: Linda and Roger. Roger passed at a young age. After his passing they moved to Florida, where Frances worked for Harris Corporation. Frances liked staying active and often racewalked in the Florida sun. She eventually moved back to Pennsylvania near her sister Vera, driving to Florida every winter to stay with family. She loved seeing the kids and taking pictures of the family as it grew to show Vera when she went back home. Vera and her husband Jim, built a beautiful apartment for Frances above their garage. Frances and Vera enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and simply laughing together. In August of 2016, she moved back to Florida to live with her daughter, Linda, and son-in-law, Donald. They enjoyed spending time together watching gameshows, Hallmark movies, shopping, and going out to eat. Frances loved the Lord and enjoyed singing Hymns. She often spoke about singing with her sister when she was younger and playing instruments. We all have beautiful and very precious memories with her. She will be missed until we meet again. John 11:25
Frances was preceded in death by her father Paul, mother Eva, brother Kenneth, brother Ralph, and son Roger. She is survived by her daughter Linda, sister Vera, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
