Obituary of Maria Alvarez
Maria “Lisa” Alvarez, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 3, 2019, after winning a series of battles with cancer leaving a winning record of 4-1. Lisa was among loved ones when she left and leaves behind a legacy to be admired and coveted.
Lisa was born in The Bronx, a place she was very proud of, on June 16, 1964. It was on some of the roughest streets of the Bronx that Lisa developed an indestructible winning attitude that helped her accomplish incredible things. Lisa’s determination lead her to begin a weight-lifting career that after years of painful, and agonizingly hard work, she achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a Deputy Sheriff. As a Deputy, Lisa became a Detective, an undercover Drug Agent, and finally a Forensic Technician.
Amid her toughness, Lisa loved makeup, crafts, and shopping. She adored all animals, particularly cats. Her love of animals is rumored to be the primary source of her tolerance of humans.
Lisa is survived by a large family with a remarkable story, and a number of friends and pets she cared for dearly. Lisa’s faith in Jesus led her to often declare her unwavering resolution that she knew where she was going in the end. Her faith was never shaken, nor was her love for those who decorated her life with so many memories.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at New Life Family Church in Ocala on Sunday, March 17th, at 6PM. In lieu of flowers please send donations to New Life Family Church at 1700 NW 60th Avenue in Ocala.
