Gary and I had the privilege of meeting John and Angie in Valencia, Venezuela, where we were all "expats". We had many fun times together in the three years we were there and continued our friendship upon return to the United States. John was a most interesting fellow to converse with. He had a wonderful sense of humor. And, a great smile. Everyone in our circle of friends in Venezuela liked John very much and enjoyed being his friend. He is one of those individual's that you are so grateful entered your life. He made our life better just knowing him. John, we are so glad we got to see you these last two years. We shall miss you very much.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences to your family. 1 Corinthians 15:25, 26 says "For he [Jesus] must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing". At Revelation 21:4 it says regarding Jehovah, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Finally, take courage in the hope of the resurrection promised at Acts 24:15 "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."JpH6y

I was so privileged to be on the staff of Port of Miami with John. He was driven by a love of the industry and always took time to explain interesting things about the port and its operations. Not a week went by he didn't help me with something. He was universally loved and respected. A true gentleman of the port industry. I also was honored to have John's daughter Dana on my Port team at one time and always felt very close to the family. John certainly made his mark on the industry.
