In Loving Memory of Fred Chastain Jr.

October 11,1938 – January 29, 2019

Fred Chastain Jr, 80, of Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully on January 29, 2019 at LifeCare Center of Citrus County. 2 Timothy 4:7 reads “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.”  and that is just what Mr. Chastain did. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Anitamarie Fredericks Chastain.

He was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, the son of the late Fred and Elsie Chastain. Fred served his country proudly as a Captain in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Chastain was in personnel for the state of Pennsylvania and for Allegheny County Children and Youth Services in Pittsburgh. Upon his retirement, Fred was a very active member at College Road Baptist Church, serving as a deacon. He also enjoyed working with children in the church and in the school community. Mr. Chastain loved his family and his Steelers.

Fred Jr. is preceded in death by his wife Anitamarie Chastain. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Ann Duckworth (Billy Duckworth), granddaughter, Shelby Duckworth of Ocala, Florida, sister Brenda Broughton (Andy Broughton) of Dallas, North Carolina and sister and brother in law Francesann and Michael Fritz of Davenport, Florida. Mr. Chastain had 5 nieces and nephews; Russell Fritz of New York City, New York, Sara Potts of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Eric Broughton and Amy Broughton of  Dallas, North Carolina, and Andy Broughton (Debby Broughton) of St. Augustine, Florida.

The family will receive friends at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 SW 110th Street, Ocala, FL. 34481 Saturday February 9, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00pm followed by a Home going Service with Brother John Downing officiating.
