Obituary of William L. Hines
William “Bill” L. Hines, 85, passed away on Monday 14th January at home. He moved to Ocala in 1988 from Flanders, NJ
Bill is survived by his wife Sarah “Sally” of 40 years. Sons- Joe (Nancy) and Mark. Daughters Joann (Tom) and Brenda (Doug). 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Sister Joan, sisters-in-law Anne, Elizabeth and Pat and his nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 21yrs, Beverly, his parents William and Katherine and brothers Tommy and Don, and his grandson Scott Wulf.
Bill served in the US Navy during the Korean War and after being honorable discharged went to work for the Department of Defense at Picatinny Arsenal, Dover NJ. He retired in 1988 after 35 years of service.
He was a private pilot and a member of EAA chapter 812. For several years Bill he was chairman of the Young Eagles program. He and the other pilots taught the young boys and girls about aviation and gave them their first experience of flight. Oh, what joy this gave him.
Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus at his parish of Immaculate Heart of Mary Candler, Fl. For many years he was very active in the parish and volunteered many hours of service
Funeral service celebrating Bill’s life will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Maricamp Rd, Candler, FL. On Saturday Feb 2nd @ 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the parish hall after the service. All are welcome.
