Obituary of Barbara S. Watkins

Barbara S. Watkins, 78, of The Villages, Florida passed away December 24, 2018, at The Villages Hospice House, The Villages, FL, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Leland “Doc” Watkins; they were married 43 years.

Barbara was born in Springfield, Ohio, daughter of the late Paul and Frances Sammons. Prior to her retirement, she worked in Customer Service for UPS.  Barbara was a faithful servant of the Lord and an active volunteer of Trinity Lutheran Church, Summerfield, FL. She enjoyed being a member of the Briar Meadows Women’s Club Community. The joy of her life was to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by daughter, Beth Shealy and her husband Todd of Perry, FL; and sons, Craig Watkins and his wife, Bonnie of Howey In The Hills, FL; and Mark Watkins and his wife Jessica of Louisville, KY. She was the grandmother of Kyle Watkins, Kevin Watkins, Kaleb Watkins, Hayley DuMond, Hunter DuMond, Kennedy Watkins, and Gavin Watkins. Her great grandchildren are Anderson, Adelaide, Emma, Logan, Landon, Ryan, and Henry Leland.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Summerfield, FL.  Inurnment will be at Oaklawn Park Cemetery, Sanford, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Summerfield, FL or Cornerstone Hospice of Lake and Sumter County.  Arrangements entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL 32159.
