Obituary of Steve Boren

We mourn the loss of Steve Boren, 73, who passed away on Sunday, December 9^th, 2018 in The Villages, FL.  He is survived by his wife Victoria Boren, his children Stephanie Baker, Matthew Boren and Kimberly Dumas, his sister Betty Scharlach, and 9 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Zetta, and his older sister Joanne. 

Steve spent his childhood in Hoopeston, Illinois where he enjoyed pheasant hunting and high school football.  He volunteered for the Vietnam War where he served bravely.   He moved his family to Florida in 1982 to be closer to his mother. Steve spent the majority of his career as an investigator for the Department of Defense and he loved his job.  After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and traveling.  He enjoyed the culture of the old Wild West, which led him to pursue horse riding.  He loved animals and he loved his dogs.  He was wholly devoted to his children and family and this devotion was the hallmark of his life. 

A memorial service will be held this Saturday, December 15^th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, located at 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Give Kids the World, https://www.gktw.org/.
