Obituary of Bertha Eileen Hoppert
Bertha Eileen Hoppert left her family heartbroken on November 18, 2018, when she passed at the age of 81 at Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia due to complications from needing rest after living a full life. Eileen’s son, Barry, and daughter, Beth, were by her side as she made her journey to eternity. Eileen was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1937 and graduated from Towson State Teacher’s College in 1959. After graduation, Eileen married Clarence (Skip) Hoppert until his death in 2008. In 1989, Skip and Eileen moved to Oak Run in Ocala, Florida.
Eileen taught hundreds of children at Deep Creek Elementary in Baltimore and Sunrise Elementary in Ocala to read, to understand sets, and to share and be kind. She was a member of Joy Evangelical Lutheran Church. Recently, Eileen spent time at The Fountains at Washington House, in Alexandria, Virginia, where she complained about the food, joined the book club, played Uno, and was surrounded by loving and kind caregivers and staff. Eileen made the best pound cake known to mankind, made beautiful butterfly pancakes, and worried excessively about her children—sometimes to their irritation. Eileen is survived by Barry and Beth, Barry’s children, Rachael and Christina, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her children wish she could irritate them a little longer but are thankful she is at peace and has been reunited with their dad and her sisters. A viewing will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services at Timber Ridge, 9695 SW 110th St, Ocala, FL., with a service at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the funeral home. Eileen will be laid to rest with Skip at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, on Monday, December 3, at 12:30 p.m.
