John was an all-around nice guy...not enough in the world. (For anyone interested, Hermann's Bakery in Royal Oak still has his picture up on their wall. I don't know the story behind it, but he is the only ROPD officer immortalized there)

John was a dear friend and a proud member of the Midnight Blues. John, Bob Lovejoy, Wally Proctor and I were joined at the hip on the golf courses and the bowling alleys and called ourselves the Midnight Blues. We enjoyed each others company while we relieved some of the job stresses. John will be missed!!! All the best for Sue in the future.

John was our brother-in-law for almost 40 years (Dec. 30, 1978 was
their Wedding date) He and Suzi had a wonderful life. He was a
wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He
was wonderful to all those that were blessed to know him.
He was our "Guy with the great sense of humor". He was the one
you wanted at every party and special event. Yet, he was also
very serious and compassionate when needed. With a large family
both sides of him were in great demand.
We will truly miss him, but have wonderful memories to be thankful
for....and we thank God for them. We all have the peace knowing
that John is fine. God bless...Love and Peace to us all :-)

John is one special person and I’m so glad he was such great friends with my parents and Was in my life. John wrote something when my father passed for me and I’m writing it to you, in his words as he wrote for me to my father,I feel it back change one word from my father’s name to his. He could write so well and this I cherish, so from my father, to John ,and from I.
In the dark hour, words will be spoken over us; bulger will sound last post and perhaps a piper will play a Dirge. Our lives for all our accomplishments will then be measured, not by what our wealth may be, but what our ideals were. Not by what we gained, but by what we gave.
In the words of that old tune, “my buddy,my buddy, your buddy misses you.” With a solemn and slow salute, I bid farewell to my buddy, John. “At the going down of the sun,and in the morning, I will remember him.”
This was so perfect and I feel so perfect back. One class act, always part of my heart. God bless take care xoxox

Daddio is the most wonderful man that came into our lives. At first I was not nice to him. I was a 13 year old teenager who kept saying "you're not my dad!" But I knew he truly loved my mom and he never gave up on me. He taught me how important it is to hug others and to this day I am so grateful that he loved me so much. I am now the biggest hugger and love to hug others. He would play his 6 string guitar and have us all singing along. He's given my brother and I so much of his love. He had the biggest heart and always helped others with anything that they needed. He had a corny sense of humor but always made us laugh. He always was there to console me when I needed advice. We enjoyed playing cribbage and I am grateful that he taught me that game. Whenever I play it in the future I will know that he is by my side in spirit. Love you Daddio and I know that you are looking down on all of us <3

John has been a long time supporter of Patriot Service Dogs. He was always so happy to see the Cherrywood pups. Our newest pup, "Everlove" got a chance to meet his namesake and get some life advice which included "watch out for those girl pups, they will get you in trouble." . We promise to make you and your family proud and help a veteran while doing so.

John was my friend since 10th grade (at Ferndale high school in Michigan). He was always smiling and always cracking a joke, and wouldn't stop telling them until everyone around him was laughing. We will miss him and all his good quailites, kindness, humbleness, concern for everyone's happiness. His family was the world to him, he loved you all very much. I'm so sorry for this huge loss. May God be your comfort. Fondly, Phil and Sharon Kusner

John was so welcoming to us as newcomers! He always made it a point to include us in conversation when others were around! He had the warmest smile, a heart of gold and so much love for his wife Suzi!! He spoke about her as if they were newlyweds! To have the kind of love they shared with each other is a blessing to all those around them!
Our thoughts & prayers are with Suzi & Family. John will never be forgotten by those that knew & loved him! He has gone to his forever home but he’ll always have a place in our hearts!
