Obituary of Ann Marie Hogan Farrell
THE VILLAGES – Ann Farrell, 95, of The Villages, FL, entered into eternal life Thursday, November 1, 2018. Born in Manhattan at Manhattan Maternity, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Connolly) Hogan. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School, completed her nursing school training as a Registered Nurse at King’s County Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, and years later completed a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education at Hunter College in the Bronx. It was while working in the Emergency Room at Kings County Hospital that she met the love of her life Dr. William (Bill) Farrell Jr. who was an OB-GYN Resident Physician at the time. They married just as he was leaving to serve his country during World War II as an Army captain. When he returned they spent their lives raising 10 beautiful, loving children.
Ann was a dedicated Health Educator and School Nurse in various Yonkers, New York high schools while residing in Bronxville, New York. She was an active member of the Woman's Auxiliary in St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, (NY) St. Joseph’s Church in Bronxville, (NY) The Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown, (NY) and St. Timothy’s Parrish in The Villages.
Ann and Bill moved to The Villages approximately 20 wonderful years ago and lived in Village Rio Ponderosa and then Freedom Pointe Independent Living. At St. Timothy’s Church she was a frequent winner of the “Mothers Day” rose for the most number of children as well as the oldest mother present. As an active member of St. Timothy’s Church she was involved in The Charismatic Prayer Group, Bible Study, Women’s Guild, and the 3rd Order of Carmelites. She and Bill participated in a medical ministry trip to the Dominican Republic with Sister Bernadette and bowled on the St. Timothy bowling team. She performed the weekly Saturday Gospel/Communion Service at Freedom Pointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility for many years. Ann and Bill Farrell were married for (67) years until Bill’s passing in 2013. She is survived by her children: Eileen Farrell-Agronick of The Villages, William J. Farrell, III of Pleasantville, NY, Sheila Farrell Saperstein of Arnold, MD, Maureen Canil of Stamford, CT, Dr. John Joseph Farrell of Asheville, NC, Kathleen Farrell-Strack of Dickinson Center, NY, Bernadette Ouellette of Hemlock Farms, PA, Patricia O’Donnell of Sarasota, FL, Regina Farrell Ocasio of Davie, FL, the late Kevin Francis Farrell who passed in 2012, (26) grandchildren and (5) great grandsons.
The family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation to be held on Tuesday, November 6th from 4pm – 7pm at the Hiers-Baxley Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, Fl. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 10:00 am in St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Place, Lady Lake, FL. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice or Freedom Pointe Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation Facility.
