Obituary of Louise Hudspeth

Sally Louise Hudspeth left this life on July 11th, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born to Daniel and Verna Jean Curtin, Louise was born on June 20th, 1933 on a cotton farm in Arkansas, where she spent her childhood. She was married to Forrest (Frosty) Hudspeth (1929-2021) on July 13th, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee. She is survived by her two sons Roger and Keith Hudspeth and their spouses, as well as her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lovingly referred to as Louise or “Sally Lou”, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as being a person of deep faith. She was a long time member of First Assembly of God Church in Ocala, Florida, and her faith in Jesus and life as a Christian was always the cornerstone of who she was. Her faith anchored her marriage, provided guidance as a parent, and allowed her to live and die with a steady and abiding peace. Louise was incredibly generous and kind, and supported Christian missionaries around the world to bring the love of Christ to all people. Never a woman to impress or boast, Louise was humble and soft-spoken, if also a fantastic and hilarious story-teller.

Louise and Frosty moved to Ocala, Florida in January of 1970, where they made a home for the next fifty years. Frosty opened Carlton, Mfg. and Louise worked as a switchboard operator at Ocala Regional, formerly Marion Community Hospital. Louise loved to travel, and she took each of her grandchildren to Alaska and Hawaii— trips that bonded them to their grandmother, and which they remember with great fondness and adoration.

Louise had a smile that lit her from within, and it was the great gift of her family and loved ones, to be people who got to sit in the glow and warmth of that smile.
