Obituary of Cecil Hewitt

Cecil "Ed" Hewitt, age 85, of Lutz, FL passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009. He was a Chief Engineer and Maintenance Superintendent for RCA Service Company in Alaska. Mr. Hewitt was a native of Ohio and has resided in Florida for the last 20 years. He was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy and a decorated combat veteran of WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Navy Fleet Reserve Association, Branch #179 of Gainesville and a Life Member of VFW Post #4209 of Ocala. Survivors include his son Don E. Hewitt of Huntsville, AL; daughter Sandra A. Truby of Poland, IN; son John M. Hewitt of Asheville, NC; brother James A. Hewitt of Columbus, OH; brother John W. Dyke of Fairborn, OH; sister Mary E. Woodrum of Lady Lake, FL; grandsons Carl M. Hewitt and John P. Hewitt both of Huntsville, AL; and a dear friend Barbara Coto. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary L. Hewitt, former wife Ann U. Hewitt and his sister Ruth H. Nelson. A funeral service will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 10:00am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30am until the time of the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Ocala, FL.
