Obituary of Howard Jeffcoat
Jeffcoat, Howard Thomas Ocala - Howard Thomas Jeffcoat, 83, passed away Thursday, March
12, 2009 in an automobile accident in Ocala. Born in Kirkland, GA he moved to the Ocala area in
the early 1950's. He was a retired manager for several Handy Andy stores in the Ocala area. He
served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a charter member, and active
supporter of Oakcrest Baptist Church. He served in many official capacities of the Marion-Dunn
Masonic Lodge including District Deputy Grand Master, and as secretary for many years. He was
also was a member of the Ocala Shrine Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching all sports.
(esp. Gators). His loving wife, Lily, only survived him by hours. He is survived by his brother
Hubert Jeffcoat and wife Mary Lou of Gainesville; four nieces; and one nephew; stepson Ken Morse;
four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Taylor
T. and Katie Roberts Jeffcoat; brothers Emory W. and Ernest W.; and sister Carolyn. A funeral
service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Oakcrest Baptist Church, 1109 NE
28th Street, with Rev. William D. Terrell officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to
the service. A committal service will be held at Pine Level Cemetery in Oxford Wednesday
afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Music Department of
Oakcrest Baptist Church.
