My favorite memory was the conversation we had when she shared the news that Taylor had made the Golden Girls team. In the midst of all she was facing, I was glad that she had this bit of excitement in her life. I even watched as she participated in the mob dance at the Town Square. I have several wonderful memories of Carey since I got to work with her but what I think of the most is her love, strength and dedication. Last year I taught her niece who was in 1st grade and we did a lot of talking about how to make it a great year for her and it was! Carey would ask every time she saw me which was every day since I had to walk past her room to pick up my daughter. If she did not see me then I would poke my head into her room and give a quick shout at how her day went. Most days is would MAKE her day and then others she knew she had to go home and talk to her, but no matter what it was she was always concerned and wanted to know what to do for her and others. Her nephew would always stop me in the hall to say hi and ask how his sister did as well. I know Carey and Kevin had a lot to do with those two kids being as sweet and loving as they are! Both kids are amazingly strong as we know and that comes from the wonderful people that surround them. This is just one of the things that I think of when I think of all Carey has been through and reminds me that she always pushed forward looking to the next way to make lives better for everyone. I know Kevin and his family will miss her greatly and so will I. I love you Carey!

Mrs. Cairns was my daughter's teacher this year. We began the school year losing my brother to cancer and when I would meet with Carey, she was always concerned with how my daughter was doing. I respect her greatly for wanting to be there for her students even if she didn't feel like teaching. Thank you for your dedication to your students. You will be missed.

I remember Carey running around the ball field while her daddy coached the girls. What a wonderful lady she grew into. Kevin, Taylor, Dale and Anna-Mae Ellis, and Krystal, so sorry for your loss. Carey was an incredible lady and an amazing teacher. She will be missed. NO MORE PAIN FOR CAREY.

Our hearts are broken,We can't even begin to imagine our lives without you in it. I talked to the father of one of your students today and he said: that you are in such a beautiful place that would never want to leave. That made me feel good while he was saying it, but then I keep asking WHY?? Why would God take a person that has so much to offer. You have touched so many lives. When your life got tough you got tougher. You are my amazing, beautiful ,loving, strong niece. You would be saying this is the hand you've been dealt, PLAY IT.

There are so many things in life that seem impossible to fully understand. The death of someone before we think they should certainly is high on the list. God is the top of the list. I am grateful for a God I cannot fully understand because He is so much bigger than I am. The fact that He foresaw this apparently early death is also hard to understand, but Carey knew, loved and trusted Him even in that which is hard to understand. She is a wonderful example of faith, trusting what one cannot understand because of a relationship with the One who understands all.

If I could remove my comment above, I would. It has taken me nearly 7 years to realize that mourning the loss of a loved one, effects people in many different ways, you were the glue that held us together,our family is not the same. Carey you are loved and missed everyday.
