Obituary of Merrill Gordon Beck

Merrill G. Beck, 95, passed away on July 23, 2011 at Legacy House Hospice in Ocala after a short illness. Merrill was born February 15, 1916, and was a resident of Erie, Pennsylvania. He moved to Ocala from Erie, PA in 1989. Merrill was a retired mechanical engineer who earned his engineering degree at Penn State University, spent his distinguished career at Lord Manufacturing Company, and had many patents in his name as a pioneer in the field of industrial vibration control. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elaine, with whom he lived at Oak Run for the past twenty-one years. He is also survived by daughters Gretchen (Dave) Rinehardt of Erie, PA and Sandra Hansen of Stow, OH; grandchildren Christopher (Joy) Tagert, Kimberly (Matt) Kutta, and Erika (Rob) Merwarth, and four great grandchildren. Cremation has already taken place, with arrangements under the direction of Hiers-Baxley TimberRidge Chapel.
