Obituary of Nell Wayne Rice

Nell Barnhill Rice, 75, passed away peacefully in her home on July 24, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Born in North Carolina, she was a longtime resident of both Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach,VA before moving to The Villages in 1999 and SummerGlen in 2007. Nell retired from AT&T phone company after many years of dedicated service. She was preceded in death by her father, John T. Barnhill and daughter, Cynthia Rice Goodwin. Nell leaves behind to cherish her memory, Frank R. Allen, her longtime companion of Virginia Beach, VA/Ocala, FL; her mother Edna Odell Barnhill of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers, Gordon Barnhill and wife, Katherine and Julian Barnhill and wife, Claudine, all of Chesapeake, VA; two children, Robin Rice Deyncourt and Bryan Foster Rice, both of Virginia Beach, VA; two granddaughters, Nicole Hall and husband, Michael of Moyock, NC and Kagney Goodwin of Chattanooga, TN; a great-granddaughter, Madison Hall of Moyock, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Hospice of Marion County for their kind attention and loving care of Nell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County, Attn. Linda, 3231 SW 34th Ave., Ocala, FL 34471. A loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and companion; Nell will be missed by many. Services will be held at H.D. Oliver Funeral Home and Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery, 2002 Laskin Road, Va. Beach, VA 23454, later this week.
