Obituary of Sidney Gordon Burkett

THE VILLAGES — Sidney Gordon Burkett, 81, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Mr. Burkett was born in Gary, Ind., and moved to The Villages from Golden Valley, Minn., 12 years ago. He was vice president of Cargill in charge of organizational employee development and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Marlys; daughters, Linda Gebel, North Branch, Minn., Sue Waytas, Melbourne, Lisa Burkett, Golden Valley; son, Steve, Owatonna, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Minnesota. Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services-The Villages.
