Obituary of Marilyn Quimby

Marilyn Quimby died July 27, 2011 with her family by her side after a battle with lymphoma. Born on September 22, 1939 in Attleboro, Massachusetts to Edward and Florence Cope, she married David Quimby on January 13, 1962. They enjoyed 49+ years together. In later years, they traveled all over the United States and Canada, enjoying our state parks, natural beauty and the occasional chase by a grizzly bear. She took two trips of a lifetime with her husband—one to Africa where she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of hot-air ballooning over the Serengeti and one to Costa Rica for bird watching. Marilyn and Dave retired to the Villages, or as she called it, a giant adult playground, where they enjoyed dancing, golfing, gardening, bird watching and spending time laughing with friends. Marilyn loved life and lived hers to the fullest. She loved to read and play games and used her artistry and creativity to bring life and sparkle to every situation. She loved her family and spending time with them. She was a friend who knew no bounds in her capacity to help, counsel and love. She was an inspiration to all who met her for her sense of humor and zest for life. She is survived by her husband David, her brother Edward (Chris) Cope, her daughters Sheri and Karen (Kevin), and her three grandsons, Ryan, Daniel, Cameron, a granddog Dallas, a niece Brenda and 3 nephews, Eddie, Lance, and Dale. A celebration of Marilyn's life (or in her words, a party) will be held from 4-6 PM on Saturday, July 30th at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, 1511 Buenos Aires Boulevard, The Villages.
